Deloris E. Whitlock, 95, East Alton, Ill. died November 18, 2024 at home surrounded by her children.
She was born July 19, 1929 in Dorsey, Illinois to Ferdinand and Laura Kuethe who both preceded her in death. She married Raymond D. Whitlock on February 1, 1948, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Dorsey, Ill.
Also preceding her in death were siblings Elmer Kuethe of Dorsey, Illinois and Verneda Lawrence of East Alton, Ill.
Deloris is survived by her children, Marilyn Whitlock of East Alton, Ill., Raymond Whitlock (Jeanne) of Springfield, Ill., Diane Trego (Ron) of Springfield, Illinois and Sharon Holcomb of East Alton, Ill.
Her grandchildren Ray S. Whitlock (Natalie) of Bethlehem, GA. Jason D. Holcomb (Cheryl) of Ballwin, Mo., Phillip J. Holcomb (Ioana) of Calgary, Canada, Michelle C. Holcomb of Clayton, Mo., Melissa A. (Kevin) Euler of Maryville, Ill. and Clayton G. Whitlock (Amy) of Columbia, Mo., Veronica L. Lorton of Springfield, Ill.
Her great-grandchildren are Lauren M. Holcomb and Lillian G. Holcomb of Ballwin, Mo., Raymond B. Whitlock, Nicholas O. Whitlock, Leo T. Whitlock of Bethlehem, Ga, Rozalia I. Holcomb of Calgary, Canada,
Jack H. Bourland, Clayton, Mo. Chase A. Lorton and Reese L. Schildman of Springfield. Nora E. Euler and Noelle E. Euler of Maryville, Ill. Grayson R. Whitlock and Christian A. Whitlock of Columbia, Mo.
Deloris worked at SIUE for many years and enjoyed travelling throughout the United States. She loved her flowers in the garden and kept a close eye on their beauty. She was active in Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) for many years and held several offices in the organization. She was active in her church, as well as her community. She loved playing Pinochle with friends at the Senior Citizen’s Centers in Bunker Hill and Bethalto and always saved time for Square dancing. Spending time with her family was her prized possession and she always had an open door for friends to come and visit.
Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Dorsey, IL with the service to follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Officiating the service will be Rev. Jonathan Winterfeldt and Rev. George Gude. Burial will be in Emmaus Lutheran Cemetery in Dorsey, Ill.
