Delmar Helgen

Delmar L. Helgen, 89, of Rosewood Heights passed away Friday, May 1, 2026 at his home.  He was born February 12, 1937 in Sorento, IL. Delmar worked as an equipment operator for Laclede Steel for over 30 years prior to retiring.

He was survived by two sons, Greg (Sadie) Helgen of Rosewood Heights and Patrick (Kathy) Helgen of Bethalto; step son, Allen Burger of Gillespie; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Ryan, Corey and Jennifer Helgen; six great grandchildren, Isabella, Tynlie, Lynnix, Gemma, Natalie and Archer and three sisters, Charlene Daily of Springfield, Linda (Ron) Klotz of Sorento and Cathy Helgen of St. Louis, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ester (Guthals) Helgen; grandson, Brandon Helgen; sister, Darlene Grossi and three previous spouses, Anna Weishaupt, Vera Helgen and Wanda Helgen.

Visitation will be held at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 10 a.m. until noon, when a procession will take place to Upper Alton Cemetery. Online guestbook available at www.paynicfh.com.
