Delbert Elliott

Wood River | Save

Delbert John Elliott, age 102, of Wood River, IL, passed away on December 28, 2025 at La Bella of Alton.

Delbert and his twin brother, Elbert were born on November 5, 1923 in Montrose, Illinois; the children of John D. and Etta Jane (Kingery) Elliott.

Delbert married Helen J. Hawbaker on April 19, 1958 in Mattoon, IL.  Delbert and Helen enjoyed fifty-one years of marriage until Helen's passing in 2009. The Elliott's were lifelong members of the Southside Church of Christ of Mattoon, IL.

Delbert is survived by three children, Rose Welch and husband Mark, Michelle Decker, Michael Elliott, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Denver, Lester, Omar and Elbert Elliott and three sisters, Lena Sly, Myrna Alcoke and Jessie Gephart.
