Debra K. Smick, 64, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at her home on Friday, November 7, 2025.
She was born in Granite City on December 5, 1960.
Debra served many years as a school bus driver with the Granite City School District #9 and was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union #788.
She was a dedicated member of Word of Life Church in Granite City and enjoyed her early days of being outdoors and camping. She cherished her cats throughout the years and will be remembered a loving and devoted mother.
She is survived by a son, Joshua Elmore and his girlfriend, Christy Lambert of Madison and her stepmother, Kathy Smick. Debra was the daughter of the late Carl Smick and Sharon (Lewis) Karius and stepdaughter to the late Bill and Carol Karius. Debra was the sister of Todd Karius, Keith Smick, Joe Karius, Scott Karius, Don Hammond, Donnie Meagher, Kenny Meagher and David French, Cindy Karius, Sheila Frailey, Robin Moran, Glenda Cook and Teri Chinn.
In celebration of her life, a visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until time of a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Reverend Cathy Crippen will officiate.
