David Pusa

David W. Pusa, Sr., 80, of Belleville, IL, born May 22, 1945, in Hancock, MI, died Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Bradford Place, Swansea, IL.

Dave was proud of his Upper Peninsula roots and visited Michigan as often as he could. He was married to his wife, Jane M. Pusa (née Rujawitz), for more than 52 years—she was his best friend and constant companion. After Jane’s passing, Dave honored her legacy by completing her Aldermanic term for Belleville’s Ward 3.

A 50-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 309, Dave loved his work as an electrician and later served many years as an electrical inspector for the City of Belleville. He was also active in his parish community many years ago, serving on the St. Mary’s Men’s Club, Parish Council, and School Board.

Dave loved his family deeply, his children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren, and was their biggest cheerleader at countless sporting events. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter, and he enjoyed playing pinochle with his longtime card club friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane; his parents, Walfred and Bernice (née Rautio) Pusa; and two brothers, Donald and Douglas Pusa.

Surviving are three children, David W. Jr. (Laura) Pusa, Suzanne A. Pusa-Soehnlin (Brian Soehnlin), and Julie Frady; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Vanessa) Soehnlin, Natalie Soehnlin, William Fessel, Jack Pusa, Annie Pusa, and Andrew Pusa; two great-granddaughters, Penny and Margaret Soehnlin; a sister, Dorothy; and two brothers-in-law, Arnold (Peggy) Rujawitz and Richard (Bonnie) Rujawitz.

Our special thanks to the staff at Bradford Place and Ardent Hospice for their special care of our father.
