David Benson

David Troy Benson, 56, of Belleville, passed away on May 22, 2026, in O’Fallon.

David was self-employed in construction for many years and took pride in building and creating things with his hands. He enjoyed the satisfaction that came from constructing something meaningful and lasting. Outside of work, he found his greatest joy in the outdoors. He loved hiking, fishing, and spending time in nature whenever he could. Growing up, David played many sports, including soccer, baseball, and track. The sport he enjoyed playing the most was basketball. Later in life he especially cherished watching basketball with his sons, creating memories together through the game he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Randall and Jacquelyn Benson; his brother, Bradley Benson; and his sister, Susan Wright.

David is survived by his sons, Miles and Bradley; his sister, Rebecca Bailey; his brother, John (Lesley) Benson; his niece, Molly Teare; his nephew, Jessie (Nora) Bailey; his great-niece, Selah Teare; his great-nephews, Wiley Teare, Folsom Bailey, and Rocker Bailey; as well as countless extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

David will be remembered for his love of family, his appreciation for the outdoors, and the quiet moments shared with those closest to him. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation: Visitation from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Illinois.
