Darvin “Bud” G. Tomlinson, 91, passed away at 4:45 pm Friday December 7, 2012 at Boone’s Landing in Columbia, MO.

He was born on January 11, 1921 in Alton, IL the son of Leroy Tomlinson but from six months old was raised by his grandparents, George & Minnie Tomlinson.

He married Juanita Scott on January 22, 1943 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and she preceded him in death on October 16, 1993.

He served in the Army for 39 months as a Master Sergeant and served in Okinawa, Japan in the Initial HS Company with the 269th Engineer Division.

He worked for 44 years at Shell Oil Company with the Senior Accounting Finance Department and retired in 1962; he was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church’s in Alton, IL and Oak Hill, MO and served as Treasurer for more than 30 years.  He also loved fishing and was an Avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and went to Spring Training for more than 30 years.  He loved playing the saxophone. He worked with his grandfather at their stables and blacksmith shop and had a great love for horses.

He is survived by a daughter, Linda Knife of Columbia, MO; one granddaughter and her husband, Darla & Christopher Gilland of Columbia, MO; a great granddaughter, Loren Gilland; four great-grandsons, Evan Gilland, Andrew and Devin Whitesides, and Jesse Palmer; one sister, June Kochersperger of Alton, a brother-in-law, Kenneth Scott of Kimberling City, MO.

In addition to his wife of fifty years, he was also preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and a son, Donald Tomlinson, a half brother, Chuck Tomlinson, and a granddaughter, Dana Whitesides Palmer.

Visitation will be from 12 noon until time of Funeral Services at 1 pm Monday December 10, 2012 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with David Wendler officiating.

Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery in Godfrey.
