Charles Luther Lovell, 90, of Mitchell, IL, passed away at 6:23 a.m. Thurs. Mar. 26, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family while under hospice care.
He was born Mar. 13, 1930 in East St. Louis, IL to the late Hugh & Clare (Mabry) Lovell.
Charles was a US Marine Corps veteran and retired from American Water Co. as a machine operator after 40 years. He was a member of the Alton Eagles #254 and loved spending time with his family.
He and Helen Ann Kovar were married June 16, 1972. She preceded him in death July 20, 2019.
He is survived by a daughter: Laurie Lovell; a step-son: John Ashburn; 3 grandchildren: Julie Nighohossian, J.J. Bruger and John Ashburn Jr.; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife of 47 years and his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-daughter: Teresa (nee: Ashburn) Glass; a granddaughter: Johnelle Ashburn; 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
