Carolyn Jean Lewis, 77, passed away 1:35 am, Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Eden Village Center in Glen Carbon.
Born January 31, 1947 in Alton, she was the daughter of Marion E. and Virginia (Thompson) Walkington.
Carolyn had worked as a registered nurse at the Beverly Farms Foundation for 30 years before retiring in 2015.
In 1966, she married Thomas W. Lewis, Jr. He died in 2009.
Surviving are a daughter, Carrie Bantz of East Alton; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a brother, K. Michael Walkington of Phoenix, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and brother, David Walkington.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, Wednesday, July 24 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River where funeral services will be conducted at 11 am, Thursday.
Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to the Alton 5 A's Animal Shelter.
