Carol Blaies

Carol Ann Blaies, 89, nee Goetzman, of Belleville, IL, born November 21, 1935, in East St. Louis, IL, died Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Clarendale of St. Peters, St. Peters, MO.

Carol worked for 30 years as a medical assistant before her retirement. She was a devoted member of the St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Auxiliary and St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. Carol took great joy in going out with her friends, playing golf, bike riding, and traveling. Above all she loved spending time with and taking great care of her family.

Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Robert F. Blaies, whom she married on June 14, 1958, and who died on July 28, 2019; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Blaies; and her parents, Ralph and Lydia, nee Adelhardt, Goetzman.

Surviving are her children, Gregory R. Blaies of Festus, MO, Susan “Sue” L. (Douglas) Etherton of LeRoy, IL, Michelle “Shelley” B. (Chris) Miller of O’Fallon, MO, and Jeffrey T. (Shelly) Blaies of Edwardsville, IL; eight grandchildren, Lindsey (Brian) McCormick, Katelyn Etherton, Brittany (Mike) Peterein, Emily (Ryan) Wetzel, Zachary (Emily) Blaies, Mason (Karissa) Miller, Lydia, and Natalie Blaies; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Judy (Jim) Wilson; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Clarendale of St. Peters and Solace Hospice for the loving care and comfort they gave Carol.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church or the American Parkinsons Disease Association. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2025, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2025, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.

Burial will be held at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
