Bill “B.J.” Joe Beaman, age 78, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois, surrounded by those who loved him. He was born on December 20, 1947, in Corning, Arkansas, a beloved son of the late Jeff and Oma (Sorrels) Beaman.
On January 27, 1995, B.J. married the love of his life, Carol (Scott) Knight, in Edwardsville, Illinois. Their marriage of thirty years was built on devotion, partnership, and deep affection.
For over four decades, B.J. proudly owned and operated Beaman Construction Company, earning a reputation as a master craftsman with unmatched skill and integrity. There was little he couldn’t build, fix, or improve, and he took immense pride in his work. His attention to detail and strong work ethic were hallmarks of both his career and his character.
B.J. found peace and happiness outdoors. He loved fishing, deer hunting, and simply being surrounded by nature. A true perfectionist, he took special pride in his meticulously kept lawn, often spending hours on his beloved John Deere lawn tractor—one of his favorite pastimes.
Above all else, family was B.J.’s greatest joy. He cherished time spent with his loved ones and was happiest when surrounded by them. He also had a special place in his heart for his Shih Tzu, Piper, affectionately known as Princess Piper by his family, whom he spoiled endlessly and adored completely.
B.J. will be remembered as a hardworking, kindhearted family man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand—whether to a neighbor, a friend, or even a stranger. His generosity, quiet strength, and genuine nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him, and his absence will be deeply felt.
In addition to his parents, B.J. was preceded in death by five siblings.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Beaman of Granite City, Illinois; his loving daughter, Shazet Fisk of Flint, Michigan; cherished stepchildren, Mike (Kenbra) Knight of Pontoon Beach, Illinois, Chad (Dawn) Knight of Granite City, Illinois, and Kelli Chastain of Granite City, Illinois; siblings Jessie Beaman and Mary Diaz of Rockford, Illinois; as well as many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Honoring B.J.’s wishes, cremation rites were accorded, and no formal services will be held.
