Betty Joyce Wimbish, 74, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 1:29 a.m. Sun. Mar. 1, 2026 at Specialty Select Hospital at St. Joseph in St. Charles, MO.
She was born Jan. 1, 1952 in Sharon, TN to the late Joseph and Lucille Parker and was one of 9 children.
Betty married Douglas Wayne Wimbish in Edwarsville, IL. He survives.
Betty worked with her husband, cleaning. In her spare time, she loved to fish. She also loved cats and together with her husband, rescued and spayed and neutered 274 feral cats and helped to get at least 150 of those adopted to forever homes.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 2 sons, Charles Robert Kimbel of Granite City and Christopher Coy (Lauren Bodi) Armstrong of Wood River, 12 grandchildren, including, Trent Robert Kimbel, Troy Scott Kimbel and Peyton Armstrong and 2 sisters-in-law who helped care for her, Vicki Hughes of TN and Sandy Hayden of Granite City.
