Betty Koehler

Betty L. Koehler, passed away at 11:45 pm Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.

 

She was born on April 10, 1925 in Carlyle, IL to the late Frank and Elizabeth Pierce.

She married Hugo D. Koehler on November 30, 1945.  He preceded her in death in 1985.

Betty was employed at Famous & Barr for several years as manager of the shoe department. She also modeled for many stores in the St. Louis area. She was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ, the Eastern Star #775, where she was a past Worthy Matron. She also volunteered at many church functions. 

She is survived by a sister; Shirley Stone of Keysport, special friends; Patty O’Hair of Grafton, and Shirley Schmidt of Alton.

In addition to her parents and husband; she was preceded in death by two sisters; Gertrude Bitterberg and Lillian Klump, and two brothers; Gerald and Eugene Pierce.

Visitation will be from 5 pm till 7 pm, Wednesday at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, where the visitation will continue from 9 am till time of service at 10 am, at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Me Caskey officiating.

Burial will follow at the Carlyle Cemetery in Carlyle.

Memorials may be made to the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey.
