Heaven welcomed another angel. Anna Mae (Carpenter) Heavner earned her wings on Friday, November 1, 2024. She was born in Michael, IL to John W. Carpenter and Lorraine (Hazelwonder) Carpenter on March 27, 1931.
She graduated from Hardin High School in 1949. She owned a dress shop in Hardin after high school and went on to work at a law firm and International Shoe in Jerseyville, IL. She married the love of her life, Perry R. Heavner on June 9, 1951. They moved to Godfrey, IL where she spent the next 73 years.
She was blessed with two children who she cherished. Richard L. Heavner and wife, Deb, and Roxanne M. Davis and husband, Jim. She also adored her three grandchildren, Kristen M. West and husband, John, and Brian and Brad Stevens and her precious great-grands, Bailey and Griffin West.
She was a strong, selfless woman who took care of everyone. She volunteered at OSF St. Anthony's for 44 years and was president of the Auxillary. She was a long time member of St. Ambrose Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister from 1980 to 2020. She was an avid bowler and loved playing golf. She made silk flower arrangements for the St. Anthony's gift shop and crocheted constantly.
She will be missed by everyone that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry, brothers, Gary and John Carpenter Jr., sister, Emma Sievers, and sister-in-law, Sharon Carpenter.
She is survived by her sister, Alice and George Adams, brother-in-law, Sylvester Sievers, sister-in-law, Sandy Carpenter, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be on December 7, 2024 at 10 a.m. till time of mass at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
