Anita I. Siemer (Swan), 78, of Batchtown, Illinois passed away at her home on September 14th, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.
Anita was born on March 31, 1946, to the late James A. and Dorthy Swan (Sprong) of Hardin. On March 23rd of 1963, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life Larry Siemer of Batchtown where they resided for 61 years and raised their 3 children, Lori (Gabriel) Friedel, Anthony (Joyce) Siemer, and Barbara (David) Howland. She spent most of her life not only as a wife and mother, but as a grandmother to 15 grandchildren: Amanda (Phoenix) Johnson, Zach Friedel, Rebecca (Ryan) Louque, Amber Howland, Jessica (Kevin) Keller, Zane (Abigail) Friedel, Shirley (Brandon) Medling, Andrew (Sami) Siemer, Trevor Howland, Cassandra (Chris) Welch, Kyle Howland, Jacob (Stephanie) Siemer, Keishia (William) Hartle, Keegan (Mindi) Friedel, and Randi (Tracy Stortz) Siemer; 26 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.
Throughout life, she enjoyed being around her family, socializing, conversing with others, watching birds and squirrels, providing foster care to children, her daily rides through the countryside, and attending local musicals and plays with her sister Rosemary. During life, her home was always filled with family, laughter, and snack cakes and candy that she was sure to share with her grand and great grandchildren. Her sense of humor and actions were not that of a traditional grandmother, which made her truly one of a kind. Anyone who knew Anita has a story about her as she was a staple of the community and never went anywhere without giving her opinion. As a result, she will be deeply missed.
Anita is survived by her husband, 3 children, various grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, along with her 4 siblings Jerome Swan, Pete Swan, Marlene Webb, and Virginia Thomas; and preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Harold Swan, Bill Swan, Don Swan, Jim Swan, Marceda Cook, Rosemary Johnson, and Elsie Swan; and a great great grandson August Davis.
