Aaron Steven James, 44, died at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Gateway Regional Hospital.
He was born October 12, 1980 in Alton, the son of John “Skip”” and Marilyn (Fessler) James of Godfrey. He worked as a concrete cement mason for OPIC Local #90.
On October 14, 2016 in Alton, he married Venus Williams, and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Brooke James of Godfrey, two stepdaughters, Fallon Beckett, India Beckett, one son, Jesse James of Godfrey, and two stepsons, Jerryd Beckett and Delancey Smith, twelve step grandchildren and one brother, Brian James (Angela) and their children, Madeline and Eli James of Paducah, KY.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Tom Olney and Reverend Jon Tyler will officiate.
Memorial may be made to the family for his children’s educational funds.
