ALTON - Community members have the chance to shop at women-owned businesses and support Oasis Women’s Center at an upcoming Galentine’s Experience event.
From 4–8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at Post Commons in Alton, True North Aesthetic Co. owner Mandie Clark will host a vendor fair featuring female entrepreneurs. Services range from permanent jewelry to vitamin injections and more. Clark hopes many people come out to enjoy the Galentine’s Experience while supporting local women.
“These ladies, goodness, I’ve gotten to know some really special people while coordinating this,” Clark said. “The thought behind it was just to get women together and celebrate our successes. This event is going to let us highlight everybody’s talents and what they bring and what they offer to the area.”
With roughly 30 businesses slated to attend the Feb. 7 event, Clark promises that people can find a variety of products and services, including a menopause education station, chiropractic care, skincare, handbags and more. Good News Brewing will provide food and, Clark hopes, “a nice girly frou-frou pink drink” for attendees to purchase. The event is completely free to attend.
In lieu of buying tickets, Clark asks each attendee to bring a toiletry item to donate to Oasis Women’s Center. She noted that the goal of the event is to support women in all stages of their journeys, and the donation drive for Oasis is an important part of this.
As owner of True North Aesthetic Co., Clark has also collaborated with Lewis and Clark Community College to start a nursing scholarship. She will be fundraising during the event to fund the scholarship. Giving back is an important part of Clark’s vision for both the event and the business.
“I want my company to be community-based. When we pour into other people, that’s how we rise together as a community,” she said. “Education was vital to my success and where I am today. Sixteen years ago, I was dependent on income-based housing and our community programs and other people. Education is how I got here, and I want to make sure other people have access to the education they want to reach their dreams that they have.”
True North Aesthetic Co. is a relatively new business located in Nautilus Fitness Center in Alton. Clark provides esthetic services like wrinkle-reducing treatments, microneedling, collagen production treatments and more “refresh” options.
She noted that it was initially difficult to find her place in the esthetics industry. She makes it a point to ensure her clients are comfortable, and she offers deals so these services are more affordable.
“I’m not your normal, super confident, beauty girlie girl. I kind of never felt like I belonged in that. I had to find my way in it,” Clark shared. “After losing 130 pounds and finding my self-esteem and confidence, I want to help other people. I didn’t feel like I belonged in places of beauty. I felt out of place and judged. That might have been my own perception, but it’s how I felt. I wanted other people to feel completely comfortable and know that they could come and feel judgment-free.”
