EAST ST. LOUIS – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced lane restrictions will be encountered on the mainline eastbound I-55/64 between the Poplar Street Bridge and Barack Obama Blvd beginning Tuesday, December 16 at 7 a.m., weather permitting. These two left lanes on the Poplar Street Bridge entering Illinois will be closed. The collector distributor lanes with access to exit ramps will remain open. Keeley and Sons along with IDOT District 8 Operations crews will be completing roadway and bridge deck repairs. All lanes are expected to reopen by noon on Monday, December 22.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
