EDWARDSVILLE - Madison Popelar and her sister, Morgan Popelar, placed one-two in the women's division of the Mud Mountain 5K Race on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Southern Illinois University in an extremely close finish.

Madison had a time of 21:18.6, and Morgan posted a clocking of 21:18.9. Morgan and Madison were EHS runners last season.

Mackenna Kerpan was third in the women's division (21:19.1).

Purple Reign edged the Blazers for the female team title with top four times of 1:27.40.8 to 1:30:16.0.

A total of 150 runners recorded times in the Mud Mountain race.

The female age division winners were as follows:

60 and Over - Rebecca Bradley, 27:48.7.

50-54 - Serena Ball, 25:51.6.

40-44 - Kristin Stahlheber, 28:52.1.

30-34 - Samantha Wallace, 34:37.1.

25-29 - Melissa Spencer, 24:04.3; Julianna Determan was second (25:16.5), and Rachel Schoenecker was third (29:17.5). All three girls were strong runners at EHS.

19-24 - Zoe Nelson, 21:39.1.

16-18 - Willow Jackson, 21:24.7.

14-15 - Audrey Floyd, 22:02.7.

12-13 - Hannah Helton, 24:07.8.

11 and under - Aria Becemi, 29:43.2.
