ROXANA 7, FREEBURG 4: Roxana scored five runs in the first, then single runs in both the fourth and sixth to take the win over Freeburg at Roxana City Park.
Max Autery had three hits and an RBI for the Shells, while Brad Herrin struck out three on the mound.
Roxana is now 16-6, while the Midgets fall to 20-6.
CARROLLTON 7, CARLINVILLE 3: Carrollton scored once in the third and fourth innings, three times in the sixth, and twice in the seventh, then held off a Carlinville rally, as the Cavaliers scored all three runs in the bottom of the seventh, to win at Loveless Park.
Reed Schnettgoeke had three hits and three RBIs for the Hawks, while Buddy Holmes had three hits. Both Landon Grafford and Charlie Stumpf struck out three on the mound. Blake Killam had two hits and a RBI for Carlinville, while Drew Quarton had two hits. Gus Gibbs fanned three while on the mound.
Carrollton is now 11-8, while the Cavies go to 4-13.
JERSEY 6, STAUNTON 5: Jersey spotted Staunton a 4-0 first-inning lead, then bounced back to score once in the third and fifth, and four in the fourth, the winning run coming in the fifth in their home win over Staunton.
Abe Kribs had two hits and two RBIs for the Panthers, while Shane Lamer struck out three on the mound.
The Bulldogs are now 14-12-1.
TRIAD 2, JERSEY 0: In another game Jersey played on Thursday, Triad scored single runs in the second and fourth, and made them stand up in taking the road Mississippi Valley Conference win.
Nolan Keller had a hit and an RBI for the Knights, while Brody Hasquin came up with the other hit. Matt Morris struck out seven while on the mound. Maddox Vanausdoll had the Panthers' only hit, while Hayden LaPlant fanned three on the mound.
Triad is now 21-5, while Jersey goes to 17-6.
SOUTHWESTERN 12, WHITE HALL NORTH GREENE 2: Southwestern scored eight runs in the first, one in the second, and three runs in the third to take a home win over North Greene.
Gage Campbell had two hits and three RBIs for the Piasa Birds, while Carter Bacon struck out four.
Southwestern is now 5-21, while the Spartans go to 0-13.
O'FALLON 10, COLLINSVILLE 9: Collinsville took a 3-2 lead after the first inning, but O'Fallon scored eight unanswered runs to go ahead 10-3. The Kahoks rallied in the home half of the seventh with six runs, but just fell short as the Panthers won at Woodland Park.
Both Ben Tillman and Will Swip had two hits and two RBIs for Collinsville, with Tillman hitting a home run, while Logan O'Dell struck out five on the mound.
O'Fallon is now 17-9, while the Kahoks go to 10-13.
EFFINGHAM ST. ANTHONY CATHOLIC 11, FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 10 (8 INNINGS): McGivney scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to go on top 10-7, but St. Anthony scored three in the top of the seventh to tie the game and force extra innings, then scored the winning run in the eighth to surprise the Griffins at Griffins Field.
Issac Wendler had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs for McGivney, while Ty Etcheson had two hits, including a homer, and three RBIs. Jacoby Danco struck out seven while on the mound.
The Bulldogs are now 16-6, while the Griffins are now 18-6.
BELLEVILLE WEST 1, ALTON 0: West scored the game's only run in the fourth, making it stand up in taking the win at Redbirds Field.
Donovan Ducey and Logan Hickman had the only hits on the day for the Redbirds, while Hickman also struck out nine while on the mound.
The Maroons are now 15-8-1, while Alton is now 12-14.
In other games played on Thursday, Columbia got past Salem 4-2, Pawnee won over Bunker Hill 15-2, Mascoutah topped Highland 6-0, Valmeyer won over Steeleville 10-4, Maryville Christian shut out the St. Louis Home School Patriots 5-0, Sparta nipped Red Bud 3-2, Waterloo Gibault Catholic got past Nashville 2-1, and DuQuoin won over Waterloo 4-3.
VOLLEYBALL
In matches played on Thursday, Granite City won over Maryville Christian 25-21, 25-22, O'Fallon won at Edwardsville 25-16, 25-20, Belleville West stopped Collinsville 18-25, 25-17, 25-20, Belleville East defeated Alton 25-14, 25-11, and Belleville Althoff Catholic got past Freeburg 22-25, 25-22, 25-15.
