O'FALLON - On Friday morning, May 1, 2026, Illinois State Police said a man was struck and killed.

Illinois State Police said troopers received information around 6:30 a.m. Friday, a pedestrian was walking in and out of westbound traffic near milepost 14 when a semi-truck struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Clair County Coroner's Office.

The St. Clair County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Ethan D. Wood, 35, with a last known address in Glen Carbon. He was pronounced dead at the scene about 7:15 a.m., the St. Clair County Coroner's Office said.

All lanes on the westbound I-64 were closed for an extended period after the crash. The lanes reopened around 9:20 a.m. Friday.
