PAWNEE, Ill. — Pawnee edged Hardin Calhoun 3-2 in a regional final at Calhoun, using a go-ahead run in the top of the sixth inning to secure a berth in the sectional round.
Pawnee took a 2-0 lead with two runs in the fourth inning. Calhoun answered with one run in the fifth, but the Indians added what proved to be the winning run in the top of the sixth. The Warriors scored once in the seventh, but the rally came up short.

With the win, Pawnee improved to 23-9 and advanced to the Greenville University sectional. The Indians will play New Athens, which defeated Maryville Christian 8-7 in eight innings in its own regional, on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
Hardin Calhoun finished its season at 19-13.
Max Toppmeyer had two hits and drove in both of Calhoun’s runs. Jack Zipprich pitched a complete game for the Warriors and struck out five.
New Athens, the Yellow Jackets, are now 17-12, while Maryville Christian, the Lions, finished 13-13.
In another final at Carlyle, Waterloo Gibault Catholic eliminated the host Indians 6-0.
