For her accomplishments, Olivia Herrin is a Student of the Month for Edwardsville High School.
A senior, Herrin recently joined Animal Club at the high school. She babysits for a local family on the weekends and spends a lot of time hanging out with her friends and taking long drives.
At Edwardsville High School, Herrin is known for the effort she makes to connect with other students. She often pops her head in the classrooms next door and chats with students in the hallways. It’s important to Herrin to be kind, because “you never know what they go home to or what they are going through.”
She shared that she lost her sister at age 13 and her mother at age 15. These tragedies will forever impact her life, but she believes they also made her “who I am today.” As she prepares to graduate, she is proud of herself for maintaining good grades and attendance after struggling to do well in school for a while after these experiences.
Herrin is looking ahead to life after graduation. Her teachers and loved ones can’t wait to see her succeed and spread kindness to everyone she meets.
“I would like to get into some type of medical career, or I would like to work with kids with special needs,” she shared, adding, “I just want people to know that no matter how hard it gets, there is and always will be light at the end of the tunnel.”
Congratulations to Olivia for this recognition by Edwardsville High School!
