WOOD RIVER - Jasiah Brown, a junior at East Alton-Wood River High School (EAWR), is being recognized for his dedication to basketball and all his other sports. Brown has been playing the sport his entire life and says he enjoys the opportunity to improve every day.

“I’m thankful for my parents as they always pushed me through all the sports I participated in, especially my father, as you can probably recognize him at any sporting event because of his excessive yelling,” Brown said.

Brown is a Midwest Members Credit Union Male Athlete of the Month.

Coached by Billy Sullivan in basketball, Brown also participates in track and football, where he plays wide receiver. He is a three-time state qualifier in track and maintains high honors in his academic classes.

Brown credits his involvement in sports with helping him develop valuable life lessons and structure, which have supported his participation in honors classes. While he does not plan to continue playing basketball in college, he hopes to pursue track at the collegiate level.

Outside of sports, Brown enjoys spending time with friends. At this stage, he has not decided on a specific college major or career path.
