O’FALLON, Ill. — On Saturday, December 27, 2025, O’Fallon police officers responded to a residence in the 1300 block of Bossler Lane for a well-being check on 72-year-old Terrie Nguyen after family members were unable to reach her.

Upon arrival at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers found Terrie Nguyen deceased inside the home. Authorities determined her death to be suspicious and the result of violence.
Early in the investigation, 38-year-old David Nguyen, Terrie’s son, was identified as a person of interest. Efforts to locate him began immediately. At about 4:30 p.m. the same day, the Missouri State Highway Patrol found David Nguyen traveling westbound on Interstate 70 near Concordia, Missouri.
He attempted to flee from troopers but was apprehended following a crash at mile marker 51. David Nguyen was transported to a local hospital for treatment, charged with felony fleeing, and then released into the custody of the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department.
The O’Fallon Police Department, working in coordination with multiple Missouri agencies, presented the case to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office.
On Wednesday, December 31, 2025, David Nguyen was formally charged with one count of murder with intent to kill or injure and one count of concealment of a homicidal death.
David Nguyen remains in custody at the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department pending extradition to St. Clair County, Illinois.
The O’Fallon Police Department expressed gratitude to the Missouri State Highway Patrol and assisting agencies for their cooperation in the investigation.
