CARLYLE - The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has suspended its investigation into the death of 41-year-old Sadie L. Tull, who was found dead March 3, 2026, at her home in the 2100 block of Fairfax Street in Carlyle, Illinois, after four days of investigative work that left the manner of death undetermined pending laboratory results and search warrant returns.

The Major Case Squad said it is pausing active investigative efforts while awaiting those outstanding results. The case will remain with the Major Case Squad, and investigators will resume work if new evidence emerges that warrants further investigation.

During the four-day investigation, 36 investigators followed up on more than 90 leads and logged more than 1,000 man-hours, the squad said.

“At this time, no persons of interest are being sought, and there is no believed threat to the Carlyle community,” the Major Case Squad said.

Deputy Commander Scott Athmer of the Highland Police Department thanked the Carlyle Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police, O’Fallon Fire Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office, TOC - West FBI Task Force, and Dr. Elaine Pope, PhD, a fire science and anthropology consultant, for their assistance. The squad also cited “all the participating agencies who sent Investigators.”

The Major Case Squad said it draws from law enforcement agencies and resources throughout the Greater St. Louis region.
