The event will take place on Thursday, January 15, from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at MSCC and is completely free and open to participants age 50 and older. Led by Dr. Bezhanova, a professor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), the presentation promises a fascinating exploration of Spain’s rich history, vibrant culture, and artistic traditions.
Attendees will have a unique opportunity to view Azulejos tiles and Spanish jewelry, gaining a closer look at the country’s artistic heritage. But this Global Talks event is not just educational, it’s a sensory experience. Guests will also enjoy Spanish snacks, making the afternoon a perfect blend of learning, tasting, and discovering.

Main Street Community Center Hosts New Year’s Eve Blood Drive with the American Red Cross
EDWARDSVILLE - Main Street Community Center (MSCC), in partnership with the American Red Cross, will host a Blood Drive on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, December 31, from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
This meaningful event offers community members an opportunity to end the year by giving back and starting the new year by helping save lives.
The American Red Cross emphasizes this holiday season: “Give Something That Means Something”, highlighting the importance of contributing in ways that have a real impact, such as donating blood. Each donation can help save multiple lives by supporting patients undergoing surgeries, cancer treatments, and emergency care.
The blood drive at MSCC provides a convenient opportunity for community members to make a lifesaving difference. Donations are encouraged, and appointments are recommended to ensure a smooth donation process. Main Street Community Center is proud to partner with the American Red Cross for this important event and invites eligible donors to participate in this impactful way to help others as the year comes to a close.
