JERSEYVILLE – A longtime employee of the Jersey County Circuit Clerk’s Office was recognized this week as she now prepares for retirement.
Karen Madson was honored at the Aug. 11, 2026 Jersey County Board meeting for her 25 years of service with the Circuit Clerk’s Office after starting her career with the county in 2001.

Circuit Clerk Mitchell Reynolds presented Madson with a Certificate of Appreciation and spoke highly of her positive attitude and work ethic.
“After 25 years of employment with the Circuit Clerk’s Office, Karen has decided to retire,” Reynolds said. “Karen’s a great individual and a great employee. She’s always the first one at the office and her demeanor is just excellent.”
Madson expressed appreciation for the support she’s received over the years – not only from Reynolds, but from the County Board as well.
“Mitch is a great boss. He brings out the best in all of us,” Madson said.
“It’s been great working for the county for my career,” she added. “I’ve always felt that the County Board … has always taken good care of us, doing what you could for us as far as benefit packages and health insurance and the amount of work that goes into that … so thank you very much.”
County Board Chairman Mark Wagner also thanked Madson for her service to Jersey County.
