The Village Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution establishing a 60-day moratorium on the acceptance of new liquor licenses at their Feb. 3, 2026 meeting.

According to the resolution, trustees are currently in the process of enacting new regulations on gaming and liquor licenses for businesses within the village and require additional time to review and finalize the newly drafted liquor and gaming ordinance.

The Godfrey Liquor Commission will not accept any new liquor license applications for a maximum of 60 days or until the Village Board takes further action on the matter, depending on which occurs first.

Village Board members are set to consider and vote on an ordinance regulating liquor and gaming at a future meeting after giving the item a first reading last month; stay tuned to Riverbender.com for the latest developments.
