EDWARDSVILLE - Fire crews responded quickly to a house fire in the 7100 block of Barton Mills Court at 10:08 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, finding a garage fully engulfed. Three residents inside the home were able to evacuate the house on their own, safely without injuries, Edwardsville Deputy Fire Chief Bob Morgan said.

Morgan said when crews arrived, the attached garage to the home was "engulfed in flames."

He said firefighters attacked the blaze with water quickly,“ which greatly helped in stopping the spread of the fire to the main part of the house.

Firefighters attacked the blaze from outside with the garage door down and deployed a second line, which helped keep the fire from spreading into the living area.

The residents will be displaced, Bob said, but “all belongings and the home itself should be salvageable," Deputy Chief Morgan said.

Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, and Wood River Fire agencies were at the scene, and Collinsville and Troy backed up Edwardsville's stations, Morgan added. He thanked the other neighboring fire departments for their help in battling the serious fire.
