BELLEVILLE - Edwardsville boys pulled away in the second half to earn a 56-44 win over Althoff Catholic on Saturday at the Southern Illinois Shootout.

The Tigers set the tone early, edging Althoff 12-11 after the first quarter in a tightly contested opening period. Edwardsville began to create separation in the second quarter, outscoring the Crusaders to take a 29-19 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Edwardsville continued to control the tempo on both ends of the floor. The Tigers extended their advantage to 44-35 by the end of the third quarter, using balanced scoring and steady defensive pressure to keep Althoff from finding any sustained runs.

In the fourth quarter, Edwardsville stayed composed and closed out the game, maintaining its lead and finishing off the 56-44 victory.

Edwardsville was led by Rowan Weller with 19 points.

Althoff was led by Kyle Johnson with 15 points
