EDWARDSVILLE - Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, congratulated First Assistant State’s Attorney Chad Loughrey after Loughrey was selected for an associate judgeship in Edwardsville, calling the appointment “well-deserved” and praising Loughrey’s work in the office and across the local legal community.
“Congratulations to First Assistant State's Attorney Chad Loughrey and his entire family on his well-deserved selection as an Associate Judge,” Haine said in a statement issued in Edwardsville.

Haine said the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office will miss Loughrey’s “daily presence and invaluable contributions,” but added, “we have every confidence that he will bring the same unwavering excellence, integrity, and dedication to the bench that have defined his career.”
Haine said Loughrey has served as a prosecutor for “almost two decades” and described him as “an outstanding mentor,” saying he has worked to guide and develop attorneys and build a team within the office. Haine also said Loughrey has “earned deep respect and strong relationships across the local legal community and law enforcement agencies.”
“As First Assistant, Chad has been an indispensable partner to me — his energetic leadership, strategic insight, and unwavering commitment have been essential to the successes this office has achieved together over the past five years,” Haine said.
Haine closed by thanking Loughrey “on behalf of everyone at the Madison County State's Attorney's Office” and “on behalf of the people of Madison County,” adding, “We wish you and your family every success and fulfillment in this exciting next chapter.”
