TROY — Triad High School’s trap shooting team recently recognized its top performers following a successful season in the competitive four-team league at the Edwardsville Gun Club.
The Triad team competed among 19 teams representing four schools — Collinsville, Edwardsville, Metro East Lutheran, and Triad — in both upper and lower divisions. Triad secured third place in the league, which holds its events at the Edwardsville Gun Club.

Camden Geiler, a sophomore, earned the distinction as the top male shooter with an impressive 23.4 average. Entering only his third season, Geiler began shooting in the fall of last year with little prior experience.
One of the coaches, Justin Ramert, said Camden was "very impressive during the season."
Ramert noted Camden's athletic background, as he is on the track and field team and plays football.
"By the end of his first season, he had earned a varsity letter and quickly established himself as the team’s leading marksman," Ramert said. "He continues to improve."
Katelyn Frank, also a sophomore, was named the top female shooter for Triad with a 19.4 average during the fall season. Coach Ramert said Frank’s consistent practice and family support have been key to her success.
“She put in all the work needed and had a great season,” Ramert said, highlighting her dedication alongside her parents and brother in practice sessions.
Kailey Kochan of Edwardsville was the top female in the league at the Edwardsville Gun Club, Lamert said.
Bill Lawrence, head coach for the Triad trap team, has been a foundational presence on the team. He is supported by coaches Donny Ballard, who oversees the top two teams, and Gary Marko, a long-standing Triad coach.
Ramert, another coach, began his tenure when his daughter joined the team, and his wife serves as a team coordinator. Ramert noted that Frank is the first female to earn the top shooter award since his daughter, Bridget Ramert, emphasizing the significance of the achievement.
Lamert commended all participants and said, “Great job representing our team on the line,” as the program looks ahead to building on its achievements in future seasons.
