EDWARDSVILLE - O’Fallon’s Panthers secured second place in the IHSA Girls Swim Sectional on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at Edwardsville, bolstered by standout performances from talented swimmer Alyssa Albertyn, who advanced in both the 200-yard and 100-yard freestyle events.

Panthers head coach Karin King expressed optimism about Albertyn’s potential for even faster times in the coming week. Albertyn has had a legendary swimming career at O'Fallon.
“I think things went very well today,” King said. “All the girls swam fast, and Alyssa had great times. She’s not rested yet, so I expect her to go a lot faster next week.”
In addition to Albertyn, King highlighted the contributions of Ava Brown, a butterfly specialist who has been a key part of multiple relays and individual events. Brown swam in three relays, helping the team to second-place finishes in the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay, and taking fourth place in the 100 butterfly.
“Another standout is Ava Brown,” King said. “She’s a butterflyer. She’s swam three relays, and she’s contributed to second place so far in our 200 medley relay, and our 200 (freestyle) relay, and she took fourth place in the 100 (butterfly).”
Looking ahead, King acknowledged the challenge of losing three senior swimmers but remains encouraged by the influx of promising freshmen joining the team next season.
“Oh, of course,” King said. “We’re going to be losing three seniors this year, and it’ll be hard to lose their speed and leadership, but we do have a lot more freshmen who are going to be joining the team next year, and several of them are already pretty fast.”
King summed up the team’s spirit and outlook with enthusiasm.
“Yes, I’m very excited,” she said. “The girls have a lot of fun, they work hard, and they swim fast.”
