ROXANA — The Roxana Shells celebrated homecoming with a high-scoring 54-36 victory over the Bismarck-Henning Blue Devils on Friday night, Oct. 2, 2026.
Roxana struck first when Cohen Dugan connected with Jordan Roach for a touchdown. Bismarck-Henning answered with a 60-yard touchdown pass before Roxana’s Mekhi Shorter broke loose for a 50-yard touchdown run, the first of four touchdowns on the night for the Shells standout.
The Blue Devils closed out the first quarter with Liam Parish scoring on a 9-yard run, leaving the game tied at 14-14 after one quarter.
Roxana took control in the second quarter. Aiden Stemm caught a 33-yard touchdown pass from Dugan to put the Shells back in front.
With 11:52 remaining in the second quarter, Parish was injured following a tackle. Training staff and the Roxana Fire Department attended to the player, and an ambulance was requested to transport him to a hospital. The game was delayed for approximately 35 minutes. His condition was not immediately known.
Following the delay, Roxana continued its offensive surge. Roach intercepted a Bismarck-Henning pass and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown.
The Shells defense then forced the Blue Devils to punt. After getting the ball back, Dugan connected with Stemm again, this time for a 15-yard touchdown.
With 27 seconds remaining before halftime, Shorter scored his second touchdown of the night on a 22-yard run.
Roxana led 46-14 at halftime.
Shorter added his fourth touchdown of the night in the third quarter, scoring from 3 yards out. Bismarck-Henning answered with a 3-yard touchdown run of its own.
Roxana pulled its starters in the fourth quarter, allowing the Blue Devils to add two more touchdowns on runs of 1 and 13 yards.
The late scores cut into the deficit, but the Shells had already built too large a lead as Roxana secured the 54-36 homecoming victory.
