For his kindness, Evan Nicholas O’Brien is a DD Homes Network Student of the Month for Civic Memorial High School.
O’Brien, a senior, has participated in the district’s Special Olympics program since he was in eighth grade. He has won too many certificates and medals to count. He competes in bean bags and basketball and regularly walks away as a winner.
Last year, O’Brien stepped into the spotlight as a member of the drama club. He worked with the club to produce the play “Puffs.” While it was a lot of fun, it also challenged O’Brien to try something new. O’Brien is always up for a challenge and eager to engage with his classmates in new, fun ways.
He regularly works in the Civic Memorial High School Cafe. He handles the cash register, taking orders and making drinks. This real-world experience is valuable and teaches O’Brien a lot.
In his free time, O’Brien enjoys playing video games and spending time with his friends. He has big plans for his future. His teachers and loved ones can’t wait to see him succeed in anything he tries next.
“[I want to be] a truck driver. I would like to deliver cars,” he shared, adding, “I’m a good friend. I’m a nice student. I talk to my nice friend Hayden.”
