WOOD RIVER — For the second straight year, Jersey’s boys soccer team left Wood River with the East Alton-Wood River Soccer Tournament Invite championship, defeating Gibault Catholic 3-1 in the title match Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at the Soccer Park in Wood River.
The Jersey boys are Sparklight Male Athletes of the Month for their early efforts on the season and 3-0 overall mark.

Aden Brunaugh put Jersey ahead against Waterloo Catholic with the first goal at 37:10 in the first half, assisted by Michael Vogel. Bradley Tueth extended the lead with a goal at 3:23 of the first half off an assist from Brunaugh.
Tueth scored again at 15:55 of the first half to make it 3-0 Jersey.
Gareth Morgan scored with 26:09 remaining to make the final score 3-1.
Jersey reached the championship after defeating Southwestern 5-1 on Tuesday night, Aug. 25, in the East Alton-Wood River Tournament. Tueth scored three goals in that match, while Kevin Hernandez and Carson Nevlin also added goals.
Tueth has 11 goals on the season, Brunaugh has two goals, and Carson Nevlin has one goal.
