
ROXANA — Civic Memorial swept three matches Tuesday evening, Aug. 25, 2026, at Larry Milazzo Memorial Gym and other gyms in Roxana, advancing to Saturday’s first-place semifinals of the 17th annual Midwest Members Credit Union Roxana Invitational girls volleyball tournament.
The Eagles defeated Madison 25-10, 25-6, the host Shells 25-17, 25-15, and Valmeyer 25-23, 25-14 in Group C play. Roxana also won two of three matches in opening play.

Civic Memorial and Carrollton advanced to the first-place semifinals and will play Saturday against Father McGivney Catholic and Staunton, who swept Groups A and B on Monday.

Roxana Takes Two Of Three Matches On Tuesday
In other Group C matches, Roxana defeated Valmeyer 25-17, 25-15, Valmeyer defeated Madison 25-19, 25-13, and Roxana defeated Madison 25-8, 25-19. Roxana stands 2-1 going into Saturday action.
In Group D, Carrollton won all three of its matches, defeating O’Fallon First Baptist Academy 25-10, 25-8, Piasa Southwestern 25-18, 25-14, and Marquette Catholic 25-14, 25-23. In other Group D matches, Marquette defeated Southwestern 25-11, 25-20, Marquette defeated First Baptist 25-12, 25-15, and Southwestern defeated First Baptist 25-18, 25-19.

In the first-place bracket Saturday, Staunton meets Carrollton at 9 a.m., and Father McGivney takes on Civic Memorial at 10 a.m. The third-place match is scheduled for 11 a.m., and the championship match is set for 12:30 p.m. All first-place bracket matches will be played at Larry Milazzo Memorial Gym.
In the fifth-place bracket, which consists of the second-place teams from all four groups, Greenfield Northwestern meets Marquette at 9 a.m., and Hardin Calhoun plays Roxana at 10 a.m. The seventh-place match is set for 11 a.m., and the fifth-place match starts at 12:30 p.m. All matches in that bracket will be played at Roxana Junior High’s gym.
In the ninth-place bracket, which includes the third-place finishers from each group, Jersey meets Southwestern at 9 a.m., and Granite City plays Valmeyer at 10 a.m. The 11th-place match starts at 11 a.m., and the ninth-place match is set for 12:30 p.m. All ninth-place bracket matches will be played at the high school’s auxiliary gym.
In the 13th-place bracket, made up of fourth-place teams from each group, Cahokia meets First Baptist at 9 a.m., followed by East Alton-Wood River against Madison at 10 a.m. The 15th-place match begins at 11 a.m., and the 13th-place match starts at 12:30 p.m. All matches in that bracket will be played at the Central Elementary School gym.
