JERSEYVILLE - Belle Peterbaugh turned her senior track season at Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville into a record-setting year in 2026, breaking varsity outdoor school records in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 4x200 relay after deciding not to play soccer so she could focus on track.

Belle is a Sparklight Female Athlete Of The Month for Jersey.

Peterbaugh, who played varsity soccer and ran varsity track from her freshman through junior years, had already broken the 200-meter record as a junior in 2025. As a senior, she broke that record again and added school records in the 100 and the 4x200 relay.

She also was awarded the sprinters' award for her efforts on the track.

Peterbaugh recorded a personal best of 12.69 seconds at the Jokisch-Grandone Invite on May 1, 2026, and also set a personal best in the 200 meters at the same meet with a time of 26.35 seconds. She long jumped 14 feet, 3 inches at the Carlinville Relays on April 21, 2026.

At the sectional meet, Peterbaugh placed sixth in the 200 in 26.41 seconds and ninth in the 100 in 12.75 seconds.

The Panthers’ 4x200 relay team of Madisyn Burch, Amelia Jumper, Morgan Allen and Peterbaugh advanced to the state track and field meet. The team finished 20th at state with a time of 1:46.09 after placing sixth at the Springfield Southeast Sectional in 1:46.99.

Peterbaugh also is believed to have broken two indoor track records for Jersey in the 60 and 200 meters, though older indoor records were not kept accurately.

She will continue her track career at Maryville University in St. Louis.
