EAST ALTON - Police from East Alton and several neighboring departments responded to the 600 block of Valley Drive in East Alton after a report of "a male with a gun," and with the arrival of all the law enforcement, the subject was taken into custody without injuries, East Alton Police Chief Scott Golike said.
East Alton, Wood River, Roxana and Alton Police officers responded to the scene. Golike said it was “a domestic” case and “a weapons-related case.”

Golike said the man was being detained by police after being taken into custody.
The chief said charges and potential charges will be recommended to the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office on Friday, July 17, 2026.
