Cox brings more than two decades of educational experience to the role, having served students, families and staff in a variety of instructional positions throughout District 7. Most recently, she has served as an instructional technology coach since 2022.
“This opportunity means so much to me both personally and professionally,” said Cox. “After 25 years in District 7, and 19 of those years spent at Woodland in some capacity, it truly feels like home. I’ve grown so much here, built strong relationships, and had the chance to work with so many incredible students, families, and colleagues. Stepping into this role feels like a full circle moment, and I’m really honored to continue serving the Woodland community in a new way.”
Cox began her career in District 7 in 2001 as a second-grade teacher at Glen Carbon Elementary before spending 13 years as an elementary Spanish teacher. She also spent one year each as an elementary educator and elementary technology specialist.
Her diverse experiences have provided her with a strong understanding of curriculum, instruction, technology integration, and student support.
“What excites me most is being able to continue the work I care deeply about, especially supporting our neurodiverse students and our multilingual learners,” said Cox. “Woodland is such a special place, and I look forward to building on the strong foundation already in place while working alongside staff and families to ensure every student feels supported, included and set up for success.”
Cox holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and Spanish from Eastern Illinois University, a master’s degree in instructional technology from Ashford University and recently completed her principal preparation certification through American College of Education.
