CHARLESTON — Carrollton sophomore Chloe McAdams and Gillespie freshman Ella Brawner advanced Thursday, May 21, 2026, to Saturday’s finals at the IHSA Class 1A Girls State Track and Field Meet in Charleston, turning in top-four qualifying performances in the discus and pole vault.
McAdams qualified fourth in the discus prelims with a throw of 37.40 meters. Brawner qualified third in the pole vault after clearing 3.0 meters.

Both athletes are in position heading into Saturday’s finals at the state meet.
Elsewhere Thursday, Carlinville’s Sylvee Gibbs placed 32nd in the 800 meters in 2:32.59.
In the 300 hurdles, Bunker Hill’s Zoey Watkins finished 31st in 50.05, while DeMiyah Chairs of Dupo was 36th in 51.25.
Carlinville’s 4x800 relay placed 19th in 10:16.03.
North Greene’s Bria Bushnell finished 18th after clearing 1.50 meters.
