Ahlvers said she is “just super excited to play at the next level and to continue to play because of my love of the sport.”

She said she chose Lincoln Land in part because “I really liked the coaches at Lincoln Land and the environment seems super good.” Ahlvers said her major will be communications.

Mira is a Byron, Carlson, Petri & Kalb Female Athlete Of The Month for the Griffins.

Jason Turkington, the head girls soccer coach at Father McGivney, said Ahlvers arrived this season prepared to contribute.

“Mira came into the season ready to go — she was motivated and in shape and has provided much-needed depth and experience to our team,” Turkington said. “She has been a key part of our season.”

Turkington said Ahlvers’ approach has stood out throughout the year.

“Her solid play and demeanor have been tremendous all season,” he said. “A slight injury has held her out of some game action, but her great mindset and maturity have stayed with her during this time.”

Coach Turkington said her consistency has been a dependable asset for the team.

“As a coach, one of the best things I can say about her is that we can always count on Mira,” he said. “She always provides the energy and solid play that we need. She is extremely coachable and such a wonderful teammate.”

Ahlvers said her time at Father McGivney has been meaningful.

“I love the team and the environment at McGivney is great," she said. "We have grown so much as a team since I have been here."
