ROXANA - The Roxana Shells pulled away for a 7-3 win over Granite City on Friday, using timely hitting and solid pitching to secure the victory.

Roxana got on the board early in the bottom of the first when Mason Crump brought in a run on a fielder’s choice.
Granite City answered in the top of the third, as Micheal Terry singled to center field to tie the game at 1-1.
The Shells responded in the bottom of the fourth, reclaiming the lead with a strong inning at the plate. Sean Maberry doubled to right field to drive in a run, and Bradley Herrin followed with an RBI single to center, making it 3-1.
Joseph Johnson earned the win for Roxana, tossing three and two-thirds innings while allowing four hits and two runs. He struck out five and did not issue a walk. Lyndon Thies started on the mound, giving up one run on two hits over two and one-third innings, while striking out two and walking five. Jackson Null added a scoreless inning in relief.
Connor Schaefer took the loss for Granite City, allowing three runs on four hits over four innings while striking out seven and walking two.
Offensively, Crump led the way for Roxana with two RBIs, finishing 1-for-3. Nick Miles was perfect at the plate, collecting two hits in two at-bats.
Granite City was led by Bradley, who recorded two hits. Terry, Willar, and Evan Brewer each drove in a run in the loss.Dan Brannan also contributed to this story.
