Major John Wimmersberg of the Jerseyville Police Department said the crash was called in at 1:01 p.m. and involved a white Nissan Altima and blue Dodge Grand Caravan at the intersection of IL-16 and June Street.

Wimmersberg said the driver of the Nissan was traveling northbound on June Street and failed to yield at the intersection, striking the Dodge driver, who was traveling westbound on IL-16 heading into Jerseyville.

Multiple injuries were reported for the vehicle occupants; while Wimmersberg described the injuries as non-life-threatening at this time, no update was immediately available on the condition of those involved. He confirmed that two people were transported from the scene via ambulance.

Personnel with the Jerseyville Police, EMS, and Fire Departments, as well as a State Trooper with the Illinois State Police, responded to the crash scene.
