“Just this week, ICE agents detained four workers in Bethalto in my district. When this administration said they were going after criminals, they lied. These actions, on top of the horrors we’ve witnessed over the last year, are why I cannot and have not supported additional funding for ICE.

“Let me be clear: I am ready and willing to fund TSA, FEMA, and anti-terrorism efforts to ensure hardworking public servants get their paychecks and Americans are protected from real threats. But Republicans would rather these folks go without pay than demand reform and accountability for ICE and CBP.

“That is upside down. I will continue fighting for a solution that keeps our communities safe and ensures accountability, while guaranteeing public servants are paid for the vital work they do.”
