WOOD RIVER — Delaney Ortman scored 20 points and hit a key 3-pointer with 2:46 left as the Marquette Lady Explorers beat the Duchesne Lady Pioneers 41-33 in the first game of the third annual Mike Fahnestock State Farm Shootout.

Marquette took control early, jumping to a 10-3 lead after the first quarter. Duchesne answered in the second quarter, trimming the deficit to 18-11 at halftime.

The Lady Explorers carried a 34-28 advantage into the fourth quarter. Duchesne made a push late, but Ortman’s 3-pointer with 2:46 remaining helped Marquette hold on.

Caylee Rhodes added seven points for Marquette. Molly Glosier led Duchesne with 13 points.

Ortman was named the game’s MVP.
